Frequently Asked Questions

Is ImageLab really free?

Yes, ImageLab is completely free with no accounts, no limits, and no watermarks. All tools are open source.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. All image processing happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API and Web Workers. Your files never leave your device.

What image formats are supported?

ImageLab supports PNG, JPEG, and WebP formats. You can convert between any of these formats, compress them, resize them, and process them in batch.

Can I process multiple images at once?

Yes. The Batch Processing tool lets you apply conversions, compression, metadata removal, or resizing to many images simultaneously using parallel Web Workers.

How does ImageLab protect my privacy?

ImageLab uses the browser's Canvas API and Web Workers to process images locally. No image data is sent to any server. Your files stay on your device the entire time.

What is EXIF metadata and why should I remove it?

EXIF metadata is hidden data embedded in photo files, including GPS coordinates, camera model, and timestamps. Removing it before sharing photos online prevents others from knowing where a photo was taken or what device was used. Use the Metadata Stripper to remove it in one click.

Can I use ImageLab on mobile?

Yes. ImageLab is fully responsive and works in modern mobile browsers on iOS and Android. All tools run in the browser — no app installation needed.

What is the difference between PNG, JPG, and WebP?

PNG uses lossless compression and supports transparency — best for logos and UI graphics. JPG uses lossy compression — best for photographs. WebP supports both and produces smaller files than PNG or JPG at similar quality. See our full format comparison guide.
